“Africa in Wet Verses” deals with the immigration drama on the Straits of Gibraltar. Scarcely 9 miles keep Europe and Africa apart, which moves thousands of people to risk their lives to get their “European dream” (the world they are shown through TV satellite dishes) crossing that little distance on small flat-bottomed boats. Nowadays, that immigration route is progressively being moved to more distant places due to the presence of the Spanish Strait Watch Service, so that more and more immigrants are forced to choose new destination places as is the case of the Canary Islands. Ramón Tarrío (Spain) and Abderrahman El Fathi (Morocco) get together those two split shores, those two continents, and sing the immigration drama in this “Africa in Wet Verses”.
